Ofsted Report

We are very pleased to share that Pelynt Primary Academy was judged to be a Good school in all areas in our most recent Ofsted inspection.

Inspectors described Pelynt as a welcoming school with a strong "family feel", where pupils enjoy positive relationships with staff and feel supported in their learning. Children demonstrate curiosity, enthusiasm and pride in their work, and they respond well to the high expectations that staff have for them.

The report recognises that pupils benefit from a broad and well-planned curriculum, which includes opportunities for outdoor learning, trips and residential visits. Pupils enjoy a range of extracurricular activities such as football, cricket, art and choir, helping them develop their talents and interests beyond the classroom.

Inspectors also praised the school's approach to reading, noting that phonics is taught effectively and that pupils develop a genuine enjoyment of books. Children are encouraged to read both at school and at home, and they are introduced to a wide range of stories and texts.

Pupils' personal development is another strength of the school. Children learn about different cultures and beliefs, understand British values and are encouraged to share their views and take part in decisions about school life. The report highlights that pupils feel safe in school and know they can talk to trusted adults if they have any concerns.

Ofsted also recognised the school's strong commitment to supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, ensuring that all children receive the help they need to succeed. Staff wellbeing and support were also noted as positives, with staff reporting that leaders are approachable and supportive.

Overall, the report celebrates Pelynt as a supportive, ambitious and inclusive school community, where pupils enjoy learning and are well prepared for the next stage of their education.

Best wishes,

Mr Hannah
