Starting Reception

Welcome

Thank you for choosing our school for your child in September – we are really looking forward to welcoming you all then.

As you are aware, due to Covid 19, there are guidelines which schools must follow. In order to provide both you and your child with a safe opportunity to come into school to meet your teachers and visit the classroom we have organised some tour dates.  The children have all regularly seen myself and Mrs Wakeham at Pre-School and to ensure a smooth transition, Mrs Wakeham has been visiting them regularly to get to know the children and has read a story to them each week for a while now.

We have sent letters inviting you on individual dates so that you can have a tour of the school and ask any queries you may have. This will be taking place on two separate occasions, in small groups to ensure that social distancing takes place and no bubbles of people within our school are crossed.  Unfortunately, we are only able to invite one parent per child for this tour.

Please share the Welcome to Class 1 booklet with your child over the summer; this will help the school to become more familiar to them when they arrive.

There is also an All About Me sheet attached which we ask you to complete with your child; this gives us an insight into what your child likes/dislikes and it is a great thing to do together in preparation for starting school.

Mrs Wakeham has also read a story for you to share with your children – do please take a look; Mrs Wakeham loves stories and learning in Class 1 always takes place around an exciting text.

If you still have questions after reading the attached information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Miss Edwards
Head of School

Mrs Wakeham is our teacher.  She loves stories, books and being outdoors.  Mrs Wakeham likes gardening, singing in a choir, painting, reading and knitting.  She enjoys walking her three dogs with her family and she also has three cats.  She likes to bake cakes, but especially like to eat them!

Mrs G will be our teaching assistant.  She likes being creative and especially likes to arrange flowers.  Mrs G loves baking too, especially Pavlovas - yum, yum! Her favourite thing is to spend time in her garden with her husband and three children.
