Pelynt pre-School has been running since the 1970s. It was originally run by a group of Mums in Pelynt Village Hall. We have grown over the years and in 2010, we finally realized our dreams of having our own standalone building for the care and education of the young children of Pelynt and surrounding areas. This building is modern, bright and spacious for the children to learn and be creative. We have recently raised the funds by the generosity of our local community, to build our very own sensory garden. The building can provide access for all; everything has been purpose built. Other outside agencies including our weekly toddler group called ‘Pelynt pumpkins’ utilize the space the building can offer.
All our staff shares a wealth of experience and knowledge and are motivated to offer the best environment for your children. Our Current Pre-school leaders have an NVQ Level 4 and the team are all qualified to NVQ level 3 or equivalent and above.
We work together with the Pre-School Learning Alliance and adopt their core beliefs that:
Parents are children’s most important teachers and practitioners work with them. Children learn through play and by becoming involved in activities. Learning occurs in social groups and the setting is a learning community for children and families.
Pelynt Pre-School is a charity status organization run by a management committee of parents and carers. We pride ourselves in being true to our aim of providing a warm, friendly learning environment for children and their families. Our new premises enable us to provide this in a bright, modern, welcoming environment.
We have close links to our local school Pelynt Primary School and have a good transition set up in the Summer Term for those starting school in September. We also feed into other local primary schools, and provide transitional support for this very important time in our children’s lives.
We want to continually grow as a Pre-school by listening to parents and children’s views on quality. Enhancing what is done to promote the best outcomes for children by sharing knowledge and the development of a learning culture. We have a commitment to continuous professional development of our staff through reflection and self?evaluation. We attend relevant up to date courses so they are fully informed.
At snack times, we offer a variety of healthy snacks for your children, and are very proud of achieving a level 5 Nipper Nutrition award. We cater for any special dietary requirements that children and families may have and offer detailed information about the foods we are offering.

"Pelynt Pre-School have worked hard with other professionals to develop a learning environment in which our son can socialise, dance, play and learn despite his physical difficulties. Since being at Pelynt pre-school he has just blossomed. I can thoroughly recommend this family-like environment and all of the friendly and caring staff. “
“Pelynt pre-school has been & continues to be a fantastic place for my daughter to attend. The set up is small but well equipped and offers a safe place for me to send my daughter. The staff are all very professional & extremely welcoming when I enrolled my daughter. I’ve since joined the committee & have become involved more with this fantastic pre-school. I would highly recommend Pelynt pre-school to anyone who was looking for a placement for their child to feel safe, have fun & grow in confidence just as my child has”
“My children have attended Pelynt Pre-School for two years now and we have never experienced anything but friendly professionalism, constructive help and advice, and a great sense of fun and learning. The team have been invaluable in helping achieve goals I have found especially difficult when raising twins. ie Potty training, communication, development and discipline. My children love their time at school, and the progress they are making is a joy to watch. I especially enjoy tracking their achievements through the regular updates made to their ‘Smile File’. My children have strong bonds with their teachers and have mad so many friends. I am very happy with Pelynt Pre-School and we will be sad to say goodbye in July!”
